One of the challenges of photography is to decide whether to allow movement into the image. Generally, images need to be sharp and in focus but for dancing I like to slow the shutter speed down and try to get some blurring into the image. I leave it to the guests to take images of people dancing with their flash guns because these images make the people dancing look as if they are playing musical statues !
For this image of bridesmaids spinning I was lucky enough to be able to capture the moment by standing in the upstairs gallery of the main hall. There was a disco being set up and the DJ was testing the lights whilst the girls hit the dance floor.
From a distance I think that the bridesmaids look like cupcakes on a wooden table (you may need to stretch your imagination a little ! )
It is always fun to capture events from a different angle which is why during a wedding day I am often laying on the floor or standing on stepladders taking pictures.
